Subject Leader

I. SUMMARY

To undertake teaching of XXXX, according to CIE subject specifications, as specified in the ‘Contract of Employment’. As well as contributing to Centre activities , course development and professional guidance to subject teachers , the subject leader will act as a personal tutor to groups of students, and liaise with parents and undertake further in-service training as appropriate and if required to do so by the Director/ Academic Team Leader of the Centre.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Teaches xxxx up to 24 periods per to A level students according to CIE specifications

2) Assists the Director/ATL in the supervision, classroom observation, discussion, training and development of subject teachers.

3) Standardises syllabus coverage, marking schemes and mock examination papers.

4) Supports subject teachers in developing resources, teaching materials and assessments.

5) Gives advice to Director in issues pertaining to subject specialism, teacher performance and delivery of lessons

6) Supports the recruitment exercise -interviewing applicants in subject expertise

Other duties assigned to enhance the learning experience of the students and smooth functioning of the Centre as determined in agreement with the Director/ATL
